It’s not only the passenger car industry which has benefited from the use of alternative fuels in the last decade. It’s also been the case with trucks, buses and even farming equipment.
Apparently, Coca-Cola’s UK division has just taken delivery of 13 biomethane-powered Iveco Stralis trucks, for delivery puropses in and around the city of London, after having used three such trucks for the last two years. They have come to the conclusion that a biomethane-powered truck will save 60.7% in greenhouse emissions 85.6% in nitrogen dioxide and 97.1% in particulate emissions, when compared to a normal diesel-powered variant.

The 13 trucks are powered by 300hp 7.8-liter engines, driving their power to the road via an automated six-speed gearbox. To ensure that the fizzy drinks are not too shaken up when they reach their destination, the trucks also feature full air suspension, and in order not to knock anything over on the tight streets of London, rear-wheel steering and reversing cameras are also included.
