Before social media, easy Photoshop, and 3D models, if you wanted a cool rendering of a really cool car that doesn't exist yet, you turned on your TV and watched Chip Foose. So, Mr. Foose, can we have a nice Ford Bronco?
Ford has pushed back the launch of its all-new 2021 Bronco by a couple of months. But we already know it's a fitting tribute to the original generation of this iconic SUV. Chip starts with that and sketches out something we desperately want to see built for the next SEMA Show.

The first-gen arrived in 1965 for the 1966 model year, when Ford wanted to compete with the popular Jeep CJ-5. It was available in quite a few configurations, like a pickup or the roofless, doorless roadster.

From the first stroke of his surprisingly cheap pen, you immediately remember Chip Foose has not only immense talent but also decades of experience. The man has the precision of a printer.

If you've seen any of his builds before, you'll also recognize the style of the modernizing redesign, where the artist always chops a few inches from the roof and "fixes" the stance. The logic is that Ford sold it as a "sports car for the dirt," and Chip takes it to the road.

The outcome is a slammed speedster, hugging the ground and resting on big wheels. You get the feeling this is a build Chip wants to do and he's dropping hints to Ford to sponsor it. There's a lot of Mustang and Shelby going on here as well. We're split between wanting to see a modern engine and a classic Boss 302 in it.

However, we feel that Ford probably doesn't want to sponsor a hot rod Bronco. The new one feels like it's aimed squarely at the Jeep community, and those guys are more about suspension lifts.
