Citroen Mehari Becomes EV in France

People have always either loved or hated Citoren’s Mehari off-roader, which was originally built between 1967 and 1983, yet its excellent off-road capabilities for a front-wheel drive vehicle were never put into question. Now, though, there are still people out there who love the Mehari, and you now have the option to build one from scratch, out of newly-recreated parts.
One company which does this is Mehari Loisirs, and now they have made an all-electric version of the car, which we like quite a lot. It is called the Mehari Concept-E prototype, and it features a 15 kW (20 hp) electric motor, which draws its juice from battery packs ranging in capacity from 4.5 kWh to 13.5 kWh, giving it a range of between 45 and 130 km. The look of the vehicle is kept stock, yet it gains an integrated touchscreen interface unit, as well as additional modern gauges and buttons.

Such a vehicle would be prefect for sunny resorts, driving up and down the coast, in a relaxed manner, taking in the scenery, in complete silence, and at the wheel of a 1960s classic design. The idea of turning an old classic into an EV is really a valid one, we say.
