Citroen C5 Range Refreshed

Citroen’s British division announced today it is updating the C5 range, introducing styling and technology changes for both the Saloon and the Tourer versions, starting from November 2010.Design changes include the addition of standard LEDs for the headlights, as well as a “Dark Crystal” treatment with clear glass in the central section for the taillights.

The entire C5 range will come is standard with the company’s new eTouch Emergency & Assistance System. This is used for emergency calls in case of an accident or a breakdown. In addition to that, the eTouch system offers drivers access to the online “MyCITROEN” portal, which offers useful information.

"Standard specification on all C5 Exclusive models, customers now benefit from the introduction of Citroen’s new eTouch Emergency & Assistance System.  This innovative service automatically or manually makes emergency calls and allows manual assistance calls - using a built-in SIM card - for a rapid response in the event of an accident or if the car is immobilized.  Citroen’s eTouch system also allows drivers to consult information online at their ‘MyCITROEN’ personal space, which allows them to monitor their vehicle’s maintenance requirements and to receive advice on improving fuel economy. These services are free and available 24-7," stated the press release.

All the engines in the C5 range now comply with the Euro 5 emissions standards, as the company has replaced the Euro 4 version of the 110 hp 1.6 liter HDI diesel with a modified one. The 1.6i THP 155 hp petrol unit and the 3.0 HDi V6 240 hp diesel have been re-homologated, offering a higher level of fuel efficiency and lower CO2 emissions.

The refreshed C5 range offers three trim levels: VTR, VTR+NAV and Exclusive. The entry-level model of the range (1.6HDI VTR) has a starting price of 19,195 pounds ($30,175).
