Instead of killing off the old-generation C4, Citroen has given it the new family face, taller suspension and plastic body cladding, creating the C4 Cross. Now, it has just gone on sale in China, with prices starting at 111,800 yuan ($17,800 / €13,600).
It is made by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture, and it arrives on a Chinese market lusting after crossovers like this one. It gets its power from a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated engine, which produces 105 hp. The engine can be mated to either a manual five-speed or automatic four-speed gearbox.
We say it looks surprisingly good, for something based on an older model, Citroen has managed to pull it off excellently. Most will not even be aware of this car’s older origins. Also, with the raised ride height it is more than capable of doing some light off-roading, despite having the handicap of front-wheel drive only.
