The American brand's much-anticipated business plan has finally been revealed by Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne. In short, the Detroit manufacturer intends to increase global sales to 800,000 vehicles by the end of 2018.
One of the most interesting facts we've learned from Chrysler's five-year plan is the addition of an entry-level C-segment model in 2016, which will be called the 100. Officials kept their lips tight about whether this new premium compact will come in sedan or hatchback flavor, but it's confirmed that the Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze, Honda Civic and Toyota's Corolla are its main rivals.
Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles investor presentation further revealed that later this year we'll get a mildly facelifted 300 and an all-new model in 2018, while the recently introduced 200 mid-size sedan will receive its own mid-cycle nip and tuck job in 2017.
In 2017, Chrysler said it will launch the spiritual successor of the Aspen. The future full-size crossover will be competing with big boys such as the Buick Enclave/Chevrolet Traverse, Ford Explorer, Toyota Highlander and the Nissan Pathfinder. A plug-in hybrid variant has been confirmed as well.
A mid-size crossover with either two or permanent four-wheel drive will be unveiled sometime in 2018. According to Chrysler, the Blue Oval's Edge model and the Chevrolet Equinox will be its main rivals. As for the Town & Country MPV, officials stated it will remain on sale until 2018.
