Having just announced a recall for about 490,000 passenger vehicles over potentially faulty microcontrollers, Chrysler also announced that approximately 70,000 pickup and commercial trucks built for the 2013 model year need to be checked.
In a statement released yesterday, Chrysler says that about 69,000 2013 Ram 1500 trucks equipped with four-wheel drive will be recalled to have their electronic stability control (ESC) software updated. 45,900 of the affected vehicles are in the US, 21,000 were sold in Canada, and 1,400 were delivered to Mexico, while about 770 pickups are outside the NAFTA region.

A second recall was issued for approximately 1,060 Ram 4500/5500 commercial trucks built for the 2013 model year, half of which are still with Chrysler dealerships. The company wants to inspect and replace, if necessary, a track-bar fastener that “may compromise vehicle steering” if fastened improperly.

Chrysler says no accidents or injuries related to these issues have been reported and that checkups and eventual replacements will be conducted free of charge.
