Apparently, the Italian magazine’s sources unofficially obtained the information that Reitz has decided to leave the company. Alfa Romeo’s design department will now be led by interim Marco Tenconi, former head of design at Lancia and Maserati.
Born in Austria in 1968 and related to Wolfgang Porsche, Christopher Ritz graduated in Transportation Design from the European Art Center College of Design in Switzerland. He began his career in 1993, when he joined Volkswagen in Wolfsburg. From 1996 to 1998 he was responsible of Audi’s Advance Design. He took part and managed various projects for the German Group, like the 1997 VW Noah and 2001 Audi AL2 concepts. He was also responsible for the interior design of models like the 1998 VW Lupo, the 1999 Audi A2 and others.
In 1999 Reitz joined Nissan where he held various positions, such as studio chief designer and member of the Global Nissan Design Strategy. Later, he started working for the Fiat Group and in January 2005 he became the head of the Turin based carmaker’s Styling Center. He reported to Flavio Manzoni, who was in charge of the Fiat, Lancia, Light Commercial Vehicles and Advance Design Styling Centres.
In April 2008 he became head of Alfa Romeo Style, succeeding Frank Stephenson, who had been on that job since June 2007. One of the most important cars drawn by Reitz is the upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
