The two Ford models from the company’s beginnings, the Model T and Model A, are without a doubt the oldest cars in the world to still be around in some form or another. Sure, most of them look and perform nothing as they did when in stock form as they are now part of the hot rod world. That's a realm where these Blue Oval grandparents get so chopped, channeled and beefed-up Henry himself would have trouble recognizing them.
Because January is Ford Month here at autoevolution, hot rods have been a constant presence. None of the ones we’ve talked about so far, though, seem to come as close to the extreme side of things as this one here.
The build is officially titled to be a 1930 Ford Model A, but as usual in such cases, it is anything but. The custom pickup truck body, riding on a custom chassis, is the result of some serious work, and seems so low and crammed it makes us wonder if there’s a height or weight limit for the driver.
The wheels, large and far apart front and rear, are barely lifting the thing off the ground, but manage to give enough space to the 350ci (5.7-liter) V8 that sits fully exposed to the elements to manifest itself: 350 hp and 405 lb-ft (548 Nm) of torque run free once unleashed by the automatic transmission.
Technically, the hot rod can seat two in the bomber aluminum seats covered in red, provided two can get themselves in there. The cabin layout is bare-bones simple, displaying a fat steering wheel in front of a vertical dashboard and a very tall floor shifter rising above the height of the steering wheel.
This is a relatively new build you’re looking at, as the odometer shows just 1,600 miles (2,575 km). The hot rod is for sale somewhere in Florida, and the asking price over at FSD Hot Rod Ranch is $22,950.
