The Chevrolet Volt is an undeniable success, and having sold 7,671 cars in 2011, Chevrolet are aiming much higher in 2012, having already managed to convince 7,057 customers so far this year.
Contributing to the total figure of 7,057 cars, Chevrolet shifted 1,680 Volts in May, an increase of 250% over last year’s numbers. However, GM’s very optimistic sales forecast of 45,000 until the end of 2012 has been abandoned, as it’s clearly not getting achieved. Nissan isn't doing particularly well, though, recording a drop in Leaf sales compared to 2011.
With Leaf sales falling 55% last month, to only 510 units sold (and 2,613 sold so far in 2012), it’s become apparent that the Volt may in fact be denting the Japanese car’s sales figures, despite the fact that they are quite different cars, however, neither manufacturer will reach their planned sales figures for the year, definitely!
