In case you’re looking for a workhorse to use as a towing truck or a dump truck, you should take the Chevrolet badge into consideration once again. After years of absence from the medium-duty truck market, GM is returning to the segment.
While the Chevrolet brand has been selected for the comeback, the vehicle in question will be a rebadged Isuzu N-Series. The information was included in a dealer briefing plan, as WSJ writes.

While you can see the truck in the image above, the rebranding will obviously go further than the badge. For instance, the engine will be sourced from GM, but nothing is official yet.

The two carmakers have had a partnership for decades and the plan is to combine the reliability of the N-Series with GM’s reputation as a truck maker and the latter’s solid dealer network.

General Motors has already tested this commercial vehicle scheme, selling rebadged Nissan vans as Chevrolets.

The big picture: a return to a market that's growing

Back in 2009 when GM hit rock bottom, the company was forced to leave many segments behind, with the medium-duty truck market being one of them. Thus, the company’s Chevrolet and GMC brands have been off this market since 2009. As for the segment itself, this has been on the rise for the last couple of years.

GM is expected to make an official announcement soon, perhaps as early as later today, so you’d better have your blue collar prepared.

UPDATE: Chevrolet medium-duty trucks are go in the US courtesy of Isuzu.
