Chevrolet has baked the Corvette a video birthday cake for the car’s 60th anniversary and we’re inviting you to taste it, as it takes us through the history of the ‘Vette.
The Crovette started out in life as the XP-122 concept, which was presented at the 1953 GM Motorama, with the positive public reaction determining the GM official to give the green light to the car. The carmaker was only planning to introduce 150 units to the market that year, but the high demand made production jump to 300.
GM subsequently moved production to a site located in St. Louis, Missouri, a move that allowed the company to ramp um production to 3,640 units for the next year.
Fast-forwarding to contemporary times, we see the Corvette in its sixth generation, with the car having sold over 1.5 million units so far. The public is eagerly anticipating the seventh generation of the ‘Vette, which is now being developed.
