On April 10th, 2014, the General Motors Lordstown Complex in Ohio produced the 1 millionth Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan. In preparation for the North American arrival of the next generation Cruze, GM announced today that a $50 million investment will go into the facility for a new Trim Shop and the retooling of the Press Room.
“This investment will enhance our customer responsiveness while providing our team with the tools and processes needed to be the best at building the next generation Cruze,” said Lordstown Plant Manager Bob Parcell. Even though construction work has already begun at the complex, Chevrolet kept its lips sealed about when we'll see the Stateside debut of the all-new model.
The 1 millionth US-spec Cruze was purchased by UAW local union members 1112 and 1714. The milestone vehicle is a hot red LT model equipped with the RS Appearance Package. GM announced that the car will be raffled to a Lordstown employee, with all ticket proceeds to be donated to local charities.

We remind you that Chevrolet unveiled the all-new Cruze compact sedan at this year's Beijing Auto Show. On the Chinese market, the new model comes with either a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine or a 1.5-liter direct injection naturally aspirated mill. Three transmission options are available: a six-speed stick shift box, a six-speed automated manual or a DCG seven-speed dual-cluth gearbox.
