Caterham Launches Seven Team Lotus Special Edition

Now that Caterham is owned by Team Lotus, the British carmaker decided to introduce a limited run of Sevens to celebrate this. Dubbed Team Lotus Special Edition, the development is an upgrade package that can be installed an all the versions of the Seven, including the range-topping 150 mph (241.5 km/h) Superlight R500.

Caterham will only bring 50 of these super(racing)hero suits to the world, half of them being scheduled to be offered on its home market, while the other half is destined for export markets. So, what will the lucky 50 owners get?

The vehicles will be dressed in a Team Lotus-inspired livery, with the color scheme also being used for the interior. Inside (we’re talking about the Seven, so we should use quotes for “inside”), we’ll also find a plaque with the signatures of Team Lotus F1 drivers, Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen.

The pack also includes a Seven history book, autographed by chief designer Mike Gascoyne. In addition to that, customers will also receive an invitation to a special tour of the Team Lotus F1 factory in Hingham, Norfolk.

Caterham Cars is starting an exciting and hugely important chapter, so it’s entirely fitting that we celebrate our opportunity to take Colin Chapman’s ‘less is more’ philosophy global, with this special car,” said Caterham managing director, Ansar Ali.

Owners of the Special Edition Sevens will have not only a fabulous British sportscar, but a genuine piece of automotive history in their garage.
