We can start to see a pattern when it comes to Casey Stoner testing Honda bikes at the Twin Ring circuit at Motegi. It matters little whether he is testing race setups for the current RC213V, the 2104 prototype or the production racer: rain will do its best to hamper every effort. And that's what happened during Stoner's third test of the year!
Stoner was forced to sit out on Wednesday, as the adverse weather conditions were anything but suitable for testing, and finally got some track time on Thursday.
First out on the RC213V, and then hopping on the production racer derived from it, Stoner managed to put is some laps at very high average speed, as MotoGP.com reports. The mechanics and Casey tested two chassis versions and a heap of other major modifications which seemed to work well.
Sadly, that was about it, as the weather in Japan showed more black clouds than silver linings, and forced everyone to call it a day before 4pm local time. When asked about how did the production race feel like, Stoner said: “We also tried the production bike, which was more impressive than I predicted. It had a similar feeling to the RCV but with a little less power and a different feeling in engine braking. With some small modifications I believe this bike will be competitive and I look forward to the next test with it!"
