Casey Stoner Delays Surgery due to GP9 Testings

The 2007 MotoGP season champion Casey Stoner promised a good performance in the two remaining Grands Prix but admitted that his mind is currently on the 2009-season motorcycle, formerly known as Ducati Desmosedici GP9. Stoner told Crash.net that he decided to delay the wrist surgery scheduled for the end of the season in order to start the testings of the 2009-season bike just after the Valencian Grand Prix.

However, this does not necessarily mean that Stoner won't focus on the remaining races as much as on the other ones, the Australian rider explained.

"We'll give our best to finish the season in a positive way, with some good results, although to be honest my mind is on the test at the end of the season at Valencia, when we can start to work on the new Desmosedici," Stoner told crash.net.

“Over the last few rounds we've managed to set a good pace in all of the dry practice sessions and struggled a little bit in the wet. We think we found a good wet setting in Australia so unless there's an unexpected problem that crops up we should be okay for any conditions at Sepang.”

But even so, Casey may have a very difficult job in Malaysia because several other riders already announced their plans to get a solid performance on Sepang. Even the already-champion Valentino Rossi admitted that he'll try to be 100 percent focused on the race in order to end the season with two new victories. However, Stoner thinks that his past experience could help him in Malaysia.

"I like the track and I've got good memories because I've won there in every category - 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP. The track is a good mix, there are some fast corners with a lot of lean angle and some tight ones that aren't much fun," Stoner concluded.
