Tuners don't usually host press events, but Carlex Design is not your average aftermarket specialist. First and foremost, its projects are dream rides, and second, its latest build is something quite extraordinary, and I had the chance to see it in the flesh.
Everything started with an email I received a couple of weeks ago, and after planning everything, I found myself on a flight to Warsaw, Poland's capital city. Once I landed, I had to go to a different gate to catch a flight to Krakow, close to the Slovakian border. Then came a one-and-a-half-hour drive through some magnificent villages with German and Slavic influences to my destination: Bielsko-Biala, where I spent the night in my hotel room.

The next morning, I found myself on another drive, a short one this time, to Czechowice-Dziedzice, the Carlex Design headquarters. And there it was, behind the large glass doors: the G-Falcon. If you're into the tuning game, you are likely aware of it. After all, all major outlets covered it a few days ago, emphasizing its exquisite touches, including the exclusive hand engraving we'll delve into in just a moment. But it's one thing to see this imposing build on a screen, no matter how big it is, and very different in the flesh.

A V8-Powered Breathtaking Piece of Art on Custom Wheels

The first thing that stands out is the Mercedes-AMG G 63's finish. Carlex’s team used approximately 2.2 pounds (1 kg) of diamond dust in the paint, and since this technique is new, they had to build up their skills before applying it to this bespoke G-Wagen. It covers all body panels, including the new front and rear bumpers, front grille, side skirts, and wheel arches that were crafted from carbon fiber. And if you're wondering if you can step on those skirts to get inside, the answer is yes – I did, after asking if I'd damage the paint.

You are probably thinking that Carlex's Himalaya Collection also has diamond dust on it. However, those rides are still in development, and we will tell you more about them and other interesting stuff about this company that has left its mark in the tuning game in a future story (in early June). As for the piece du resistance, that would be the roof add-on. It took a master artisan four years to complete using something similar to a dentist drill. Since not many people can deal with the sound produced by such a tool, Carlex had to isolate that space behind ultra-thick glass doors.

This component depicts a falcon (hence the project's G-Falcon name) in a nature-esque landscape. It is a silver and gold segment—well, not real silver and gold, but this bespoke Mercedes-AMG G 63 does feature these precious materials on other parts. Attaching and gluing the large aluminum part to the roof was a very tricky process, as they had to do it in one go, and there was no room for error. If you are wondering whether it has made the vehicle louder, then you obviously forgot that the G-Wagen is shaped like a (very nice) brick.

The gold and silver side trim is OEM and decorated with more hand-engraving. The car also has a custom and bespoke rear spare wheel holder with the G-Falcon name decorating it. The same emblem was applied to the factory hood, and Carlex's logo bedecks the grille and wheels. The latter have floating-style center caps, meaning the logo will always be the right side up, just like on Rolls-Royces.

Carlex's Interiors Can Make Mercedes (and other automakers) Blush

In plain Carlex Design style, the cockpit of the G-Falcon was completely reupholstered. Natural leather that was recolored and patinated bedecks most touchable surfaces. It can be seen and touched (if you're lucky) on the seats, dashboard, door cards, steering wheel, and center console. The central armrest has Alcantara on it, and the steering wheel's bottom section features more engravings. The seats were re-foamed, and the tuner's logo decorates them. The carpets and headliner are stock, and some trim was repainted (the dust and fingerprint magnet) glossy black.

We mentioned some precious materials earlier, and it's now time to tell you that the door pins were made of silver with a gold top. For this part, the tuner turned to a jeweler to ensure everything was perfect. And it is. As Carlex's Founder and CEO, Damian Skotnicki, said: "After four years, the G-Falcon is my baby." Congrats on it, as it is one beautiful toddler!

Less Is More

Body kits are not usually on the menu at Carlex Design, which specializes in interiors and elegant paint finishes. But the G-Falcon comes with a few exterior add-ons that we mentioned above. These parts look similar to the OEM ones, and even the tuner's take on the AMG's Panamericana grille fits the project just great. The 24-inch alloys wrapped in 295/30 and 355/25 Vredestein tires front and rear, respectively, are as smooth as butter on a hot pan.

It's irrelevant to speak about the firepower, as Carlex never applies any elbow grease to the engines of the cars it modifies. Therefore, it is the same 4.0L bi-turbo V8, albeit with a custom cover that you can see above. This G 63 has 577 hp (585 ps/430 kW) and 627 pound-feet (850 Nm) of torque. The three-pointed star brand quotes 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in 4.5s, which is very good for something shaped like a brick that weighs as much as a small shed.

A brand-new Mercedes-AMG G 63 starts at $183,000 in the United States for the 2024 model year, before destination and dealer markups, and €189,329 (equaling $204,985) in Germany. The G-Falcon is a multi-million dollar machine that's worth every penny (if you ask us) and deserves to sit in a collection next to other exquisite rides. Carlex Design is asking for €2,460,000 (equaling $2,665,000 at today's exchange rates), and it is a brand-new machine with all the bells and whistles mentioned above. The tuner can ship it anywhere in the world for the right sum. So, where would you park it?
