Campos to Miss All Testing Season in 2010?

With their financial future still unclear before the official start of the testing season, Campos Grand Prix is allegedly in danger of missing all testing action prior to the season opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

Despite being one the the first teams to sign a race driver for the 2010 season – in the person of Brazilian driver Bruno Senna – and also one the the first newly-entrant team to pass the FIA crash test for their 2010 challenger, the lack of finance for their inaugural F1 campaign could jeopardize their testing season this winter.

The company that currently develops Campos' chassis for the 2010 season is Italian manufacturer Dallara, but some reports suggested that the car is close to being fully developed for the new season. However, as revealed by Campos's head of strategy Daniel Eisen, the lack of financial stability might lead to the Bahrain GP becoming the site of the car's first public appearance in 2010.

Bahrain is a test, it's not a first race for us. The cars are very advanced, we have a driver under contract and our intention is to be in Bahrain for the first race. Everybody's worried and that's logical because the season is long and we're the new ones,” said Eisen, according to the Associated Press.

But first things first, we want to be there with the best of everything - especially the cars. It's no secret that we are negotiating with investors and sponsors, especially on an international scale. But everything is going according to plan.

Under the circumstances, it's likely that the team will take a longer time to sign a second driver for their 2010 campaign, something that will likely happen a few days before the Bahrain race in mid-March.
