Campos - Teixeira Deal Imminent

Campos Grand Prix is on the verge of securing its future as a team in the Formula One championship. Amid recent reports that the Spanish team is very close to financial collapse and is considering a sellout of their F1 operations to private investors, the team's boss Adrian Campos insisted that he will never sell his majority stake in the team.

However, according to recent reports in the Spanish media, A1 GP owner and South African businessman Tony Teixeira will allegedly buy into the team in the next few hours. Actually, it seems the agreement was already settled between the two parties, only the official announcement is imminent, according to Diario AS newspaper.

The agreement will become public in the next hours,” said the report from the Spanish newspaper, adding that the part-sale of the team would bring Campos around 3 or 4 million euro.

Teixeira has been on a continuous lookout for becoming a Formula One investor for years, as he has been linked with several sellouts in the series through the past few seasons. Super Aguri, Spyker, Toro Rosso and Honda are only a few names that come to mind when thinking about it.

In case a deal will not work out however, several other media – this time from Italy and Brazil – suggested that Bruno Senna may move to Scuderia Toro Rosso. The Brazilian driver is currently the only racer signed by Campos for the 2010 season, but he might take off in case his team will not make the grid in Bahrain.

Needless to say, the sponsorship money he'd bring with him would seem very attractive for the struggling Toro Rosso outfit, who are now forced to build their own car from scratch following the FIA's regulations regarding customer cars. Senna has been formerly linked with a race seat with STR at the end of 2008, but turned the offer down because he wanted to drive for Honda (Brawn GP).
