Back in early July, Callaway announced plans to offer a new line of supercharged pickup trucks based on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra twins. The Connecticut-based specialist needed only a month to develop a new Eaton TVS supercharger for the 5.3-liter V8 engine and publishes the first photos of the high-performance unit as it was fitted under the bonnet.
In addition, Callaway revealed that the supercharged Silverado and Sierra packages will start at $17,395 and that authorized dealers are ready to take orders for the 5.3-liter Crew Cab versions, while the Standard Cab and Extended Cab model will go on sale a little bit later.
Official output figures have yet to be revealed, but last months release states that the 5.3-liter trucks will have at least 450 HP, while the 6.2-liter pickups will boast around 540 horses.
“While the new powertrain management system provided new challenges for Callaway's development staff, its additional control authority also provided improved refinement and integration of positive manifold pressure, through all the transient conditions of "normal" drive cycles. The Callaway Silverado's performance and drivability are nothing less than spectacular. The development project is now in the final stages of in-vehicle testing and validation,” Callaway said in a press release.
