Cadillac Moving World Headquarters to NYC

Cadillac has had a busy year so far with a handful of new products, a redesigned logo and, oh yeah, a new boss, but 2015 is shaping up to be even busier. In addition to a new flagship sedan, Cadillac will be moving its world headquarters from GM’s Renaissance Center in Detroit, MI to the posh Soho neighborhood of New York City.
As Cadillac looks to once again become a global symbol of style, quality and luxury, the automaker is hoping to create its own identity moving forward, which it can definitely do by relocating to the trendy area of NYC. Although Cadillac did not give a specific timeframe for the opening of its new headquarters, it will be housed in a “multipurpose brand and event space in conjunction with modern loft offices.”

We are very proud of our Detroit roots and heritage, and the majority of the Cadillac workforce will remain in Michigan. But there is no city in the world where the inhabitants are more immersed in a premium lifestyle than in New York. Establishing our new global headquarters in Soho places Cadillac at the epicenter of sophisticated living. It allows our team to share experiences with premium-brand consumers and develop attitudes in common with our audience," said Johan de Nysschen, the newly named president of GM’s top luxury division.

This is a similar move that de Nysschen oversaw when Infiniti, his previous employer, moved its global headquarters to Hong Kong, and he is wasting no time trying to accomplish the same with Cadillac. It seems like the logistics of the move (including who stays in Detroit and who moves to NY) are still being worked out, although product development and other technical personnel will remain in Detroit.

Cadillac's new HQ almost could be a good indication that we'll see the brand's upcoming flagship sedan debut next year at the New York Auto Show.
