C8 Corvettes Drag Mopars, a BMW M2, Subaru WRX, and a Vintage Camaro, Destruction Ensues

Obviously, General Motors struck gold when it allowed Team Corvette to finally fulfill its longtime dream of competing on equal footing with modern mid-engine European sports cars. So much so that during this year's Monterey Car Week, Ford didn't dare to present a mid-engine Mustang but instead opted to create an extremely expensive Shelby with a different moniker (GTD).

Anyway, since it was out in Stingray form and to this Z06 and E-Ray day, the C8 Corvette has become a staple of the nation's quarter-mile dragstrips. So much so that people love to create compilations around them. This videographer dwells around a trio of tracks – the thunderous MRP and Bandimere, plus the ritzy four-lane The Strip at Las Vegas Speedway.

But sometimes, it only takes footage from two of them to drive the C8 Corvette point home. Mostly. With more than eight minutes of Chevy racing, the C8 was bound to incur some losses, too. So, spoiler alert: the mighty C8 Corvette wins most but also loses some. Now, let's get started with the shenanigans, shall we?

The first confrontation is between a gray Dodge Challenger and a black (with touches of crimson) C8, and the setting is properly revealed with a colossal win for the mid-engined Chevy. After that, all we see is red – a burgundy-and-black-shaded Hellcat meets the classic red C8 with black aero bits and pieces, and again fate has ordained that Chevy fans can laugh all night in the face of their Mopar rivals.

Thirdly, the black Corvette returns for a little bit of yin and yang competition because the replica comes from a white Dodge Charger. Well, again, the stealthy C8 prevails, and the Charger goes home ashamed. At the 3:20 mark, we jump a little to MRP for a couple of skirmishes – another (this time green) Charger makes a crimson C8 Corvette bite the dust with a near (12.43s to 12.77s) victory.

This location doesn't suit the C8 too much as the next battle sees the crimson Corvette cross quarter-mile swords with a German knight in BMW armor, and the little European rascal takes down the American warrior with absolute ease (11.04s to 12.09s ETs). From the 5:03 mark, we are back to Las Vegas, where the black C8 Corvette has a Chevy brother on its side, a Camaro 'youngtimer.'

I don't know if the C8 driver knew what he was dealing with, but the old-school Chevy proved a proper sleeper, and at the end of the race, you could park a bus or two between them, given the 11.22s versus 12.51s win for the 'Maro. Funny enough, the black C8 Corvette was relentless and immediately quarreled with a blue Subaru WRX.

Well, the latter had many reasons to feel sad about the driver's choice of wheels, as the C8 Corvette started the race in reverse and still won! Last but not least, from the 7:09 mark, there are some additional quirky races between a Redeye and a modern Camaro (Mopar fans rejoice), plus the outrageous Dodge going against a fellow Challenger.
