Porsche officially introduced the production-ready third-generation Panamera in China. But now that the web configurator is up and running in the US, it's time to explore what we can build. But for a brief moment, we thought it would be an unnecessary challenge. The entry-level model with no add-ons simply looks great. Let's dive in!
From the get-go, I will admit that the Stormtrooper look is one of my favorites. I greatly appreciate that Porsche made the all-new rear-wheel drive Panamera available in this almost spot-on spec for just $99,900 sans tax and freight.

The only options I would like to add here are the 20-inch Panamera Turbo wheels, the massaging and ventilated front seats, the blacked-out window trim and door handles, and the Exclusive Design taillights. These extras raise the MSRP to $107,140 but complete the Stormtrooper look and enhance cabin comfort.

However, we're talking about a Porsche here. Few people will order the base Panamera, and hardly anyone will abstain from improving this vehicle through the generous individualization process. So, we powered through!

We would have chosen the Turbo E-Hybrid for this customizing experience, but it's not yet available.

That's a shame, really. That is the model boasting the new Active Ride suspension system. Porsche developed it themselves with little to no third-party support, and it can do some amazing things. They hooked it to the plug-in hybrid's high-voltage battery, which allows the 20-kW setup to control the vehicle's body like it's a feather.

It's somewhat similar to Ferrari's Multimatic system, which was introduced with the Purosangue.

But here we are, dealing with the all-new 2024 Panamera 4.

Creating THE Panamera

Even though we start with an MSRP of $106,900, the scope of this configuration process will be simple: keep costs under control. We won't tick every box. Maybe you would like to use the build available below for your own Panamera. So, we will refrain from splurging.

We start with the exterior color: Montego Blue Metallic. It looks great on the newest iteration of this sedan. It's not too flashy, but it's not brown, either. Of course, there's always the $13,150 Paint to Sample option for those with deep pockets.

Next, wheels! The 19-inch rims seem a bit too small for this posh vehicle, so we must go with the 20-inch AeroDesign ones. Porsche allows its customers to paint the wheels in the sedan's body color, in Neodyme (gold), in Sating Black, Jet Black, Dark Silver, or High Gloss Black for just $1,290. But we're not that extravagant. However, we will add the all-season tires for just $150 more. It just feels like a deal.

The interior is where we will spend most of our time with the Panamera, so a blue and beige combination is our choice. The black and dark green combo also looked good, but the lighter color scheme worked better with the chosen paint job. But I'll admit that the pricier Club Leather Espresso upholstery looks marvelous. If you know yourself as a practical and more mature person, that would be a great choice.

Picking the right stuff

Now, we must look at the seat options. Suppose you intend to drive this vehicle more spiritedly. In that case, you might want the 18-way adjustable sport seats because they offer more lateral support, and this Panamera doesn't come with the new Active Ride suspension. But for sporty driving, a 911 would be better. So, we keep the 14-way adjustable comfort seats.

The Panamera is a luxurious sedan. There's no way around it. That's why the driver and the passenger deserve heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats. The option is also available for those sitting in the rear. But how often will you travel with family or friends who require such features, right?

Changing the exterior look with Exclusive Manufaktur add-ons is out of the question. The only box worth ticking is the one for window trim in gloss black. That's it. That just gives the vehicle a more rounded and sportier look.

The question we must answer now is, "Do we want this Panamera to have an even more balanced, elegant look?" The answer is yes. So, we're obligated to add the rear logo and the model designation in gloss black. That's also why we chose the Exclusive Design taillights.

The Sport Exhaust with quad pipes finished in dark bronze completes our chosen aesthetic. But that option prompts us to choose between the Bose Surround and Burmester 4D sound system. The latter makes the most sense because nobody ever complained about having a great audio experience in their vehicle.

Rear axle steering might seem like a gimmick, but it will help maneuver this long four-door sedan in tight parking lots and urban environments. It'll also come in handy at high speeds.

Choices, choices

Porsche's HD-Matrix headlights are great, but the standard ones include the Matrix functionality. We won't upgrade. We're also ignoring the part about further customizing the cabin. We will pay for noise, thermally insulated glass, and the heated GT steering wheel for a bit more pampering, though!

One could argue that the Panamera is a driver's car. But in many ways, this vehicle is also a luxurious wafting machine. That's why we chose to enhance overall safety by adding the night vision camera and the InnoDrive suite. It's nice to have all this useful technology at the touch of a button. The head-up display is also a great thing to have safety-wise.

Taking care of your health is important, so the available air quality system just makes sense.

The last piece of kit we're going to add is the passenger display just because it allows the cabin to shine a bit more. It makes the Panamera's interior feel like the real deal.

Honestly? Not that bad!

We ended up with a pre-tax price of $145,720, which includes the delivery and handling fee and the $37,170 worth of options. There's no beating around the bush here. The vehicle is very expensive, especially when you realize that all you're getting under the hood is a V6.

However, it is a brand-new Porsche specced to become your everyday ride. It will give the driver a marvelous experience until the Turbo E-Hybrid comes around with its more capable drivetrain and clever suspension.

Well-off car buyers who aren't ready to switch to an all-electric vehicle like the Tesla Model S Plaid or the Lucid Air Grand Touring can safely consider the all-new Panamera. It's a bit pricey, yes, but nobody does cars like Porsche. I would dare to say that even at this MSRP, the buyer gets every bang for their many bucks. I would even double down and say that this is a reasonable outcome, considering the auto brand we are dealing with.

I am, however, aware that not everyone can digest spending six figures on a V6-powered sedan. But if you are priviliged enough to be able to order such a vehicle, the Panamera surely must be at the top of your list.

Finally, feel free to critique our choices in the comment section below, as we would love to hear your take. Maybe even share your own spec with us or download the one we built to serve as inspiration for your creation!
