Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo Previews Company's New Design Language, Launches in Frankfurt

It seems like the first preview of the next Bugatti model will come in a virtual space as the company has announced it will be releasing its own interpretation of the Vision Gran Turismo at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

This is a little unusual, especially for such an exclusive name like Bugatti. Even weirder still is the manner in which Bugatti chose to tease us, showing a piece of body kit and leaving us to scratch our heads and wonder what exactly it is we're looking at. Whatever it is, don't leave it around unsupervised children. Turns out it's an air inlet. Yeah, we knew that all along.

Achim Anscheidt, head of design at Bugatti, insists what we're about to see in the game is not a fictional vehicle incapable of switching over to the real world. "We had a clear objective, to create a vehicle that could perform very well on a real track, as well as on a digital one."

He goes on to say that the virtual model should be regarded as an opportunity to peek at the brand's new design language. Details regarding the concept's performance ratings are non-existent, but Achim Anscheidt says it's "exaggerated and extremely performance-oriented." As opposed to the actual Veyron, which was extremely common and family oriented, right?

Rumors going around about the Veyron replacement say it should be called Chiron (like the concept that anticipated the Veyron), it should use a hybrid powertrain and it should have in the region of 1,500 horsepower. We can't say anything about the name, but the rest sounds just right. The Veyron was a game changer, so the new model has its work cut out for it if it wants to be similarly groundbreaking. And 1,500 hp might just be enough to cut it.

Right now, though, we should concentrate on the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo and on the fact it will be displayed at the brand's stand in Frankfurt this September. Will it simply preview the design language for the next models, or will it give more substantial hints about the eagerly anticipated Veyron replacement? But more importantly: will it actually look any good? We're counting the days...
