Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Centenaire First Official Photos

Just as we told you back in March, Bugatti displayed at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show a special-edition Veyron called 16.4 Bleu Centenaire that was especially intended to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary. In fact, the only noticeable difference between the models included in the 16.4 Centeinaire series is the paint job, as every model comes in either Bleu France, Rosso Italiano, British racing green or Deutsches reinwess with polished aluminum doors.

The rest of the car is basically the same with the regular Veyron, with similar engines and obviously similar performance figures.

Although it was initially rumored that the 16.4 Centenaire will come with an insanely-high power - 1350 horsepower, 1380 Nm of torque, 0-100 in 2.4 seconds and maximum speed of at least 425 km/h (264.1 mph) - the special edition boasts exactly the same performance as the standard Veyron: 8.0-liter engine that generates 1001 horsepower (736 kW), 922 lb-ft (1250 Nm) of torque. The 0-100 acceleration is done in 3.2 seconds, with maximum speed going as much as 253 mph (407 km/h).

Even if so many special editions Veyrons might raise some eyebrows among car enthusiasts, the supercar manufacturer is probably aiming to keep the nameplate alive - the company earlier this year announced that Veyron will be discontinued by the end of the year as the 300-unit initial production is coming to a dead point. Nevertheless, a bunch of rumors claimed a new Veyron is expected to be launched this year but, taking into account all these special-editions series, it's hard to believe that there's actually some truth behind this speculation.
