The puny 1001 horsepower and 1250 Nm (922 lb ft) of torque of the regular Bugatti Veyron might seem a little boring for some of its owners, or future owners. After all, a 408.47 km/h (253.8 mph) top speed and a 2.5 seconds time from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) is less than satisfactory for one's luxurious GT. As previously announced by a leaked Bugatti document last autumn, a new Veyron version is in the works.

According to 925.nl via autoblog.nl, the new Veyron will sport a horsepower upgrade to a monstrous 1350, while the torque figures will reach 1380 Nm (1017.8 lb ft), which is probably enough to deviate the Moon from its orbit [/end sarcasm]. These figures were first made public by the aforementioned Bugatti document, of which a scanned version surfaced on the Internet a few months ago.

Apparently, the new power upgrade is to arrive at this year's Geneva Auto Show just in time to celebrate Bugatti's 100th birthday. For that same reason, the 1350 horsepower version of the Veyron will sport the "Centenaire" name. By the way, for the French-language challenged, that means "Centenary", as in 100 years...

The new power figures will allegedly downsize the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration by 0.1 seconds, to an eye-regressing-into-your-brain 2.4 seconds, while the maximum speed will reach at least 425 km/h (264.1 mph). Believe it or not, these are not the most impressive figures related to the new car, the braking is. With just 2.2 seconds required for the almost two-tonne car to arrive at a full stop from 100 km/h (62 mph), this should really flap your ears during hard braking.

Of course, none of this information is actually official yet, but stay tuned for next week's Geneva Auto Show for the whole beans to be spilled on the new Bugatti. Meanwhile, the Molsheim company also released a LOT of new pictures of the "regular" Veyron.
