There's a new Land Rover Defender, sorry, Canoo lifestyle vehicle in town. Oh, double sorry; I was actually thinking about the all-new (MX5) fifth-generation Hyundai Santa Fe, honestly.
As opposed to going to Bavaria if you want to learn what not to do when designing a vehicle (wink, wink, i7 and all the other quirky BMWs of late), one might want to head out for a trip to South Korea if you're an aspiring car designer. At least that is the opinion of a virtual artist turned full-time car reviewer – who believes these days it seems that Hyundai and Kia are having "a lot of fun with fresh ideas on how to design cars."
Cue Marouane Bembli, a pixel master better known as TheSketchMonkey on YouTube and other social media outlets, who has been experiencing a change of 'profession' over the past three months when he morphed from a CGI expert that loved to modify contemporary cars according to his desires or resurrect defunct nameplates for modern times into a regular car reviewer.
I don't know how that is going for him in a sea of Youtubers talking about cars, but I surely miss the days when he would dissect a new model's arrival and then proceed to redesign it according to his imagination. Luckily, just recently, he couldn't help but return to his old digital habits – at least partially – when he saw what Hyundai dared to do with the fifth iteration of the beloved Santa Fe nameplate.
In a stark departure from the predecessor's sweeping lines, the all-new 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe sure looks like a cross between a Canoo and the Land Rover Defender with a hint of Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Anyway, we can easily get the point that's being driven here – even a unibody crossover SUV can be made to look like a boxy, rugged full-time 4x4 SUV if you're daring enough. As such, what else could have befitted the new model better than a setup with beadlock-capable off-road wheels plus meaty all-terrain tires to imagine it as "a proper trail king."
With that being said, don't go away just yet because we have another quick CGI idea based on the latest release from Hyundai. When they introduced the Santa Fe (hot on the heels of the Ioniq 5 N hot hatch, if you can believe the daringness), they also showcased a couple of hues – something white and another thing that's not quite pink but still close enough.
Another digital creator, Nikita Chuicko, known as kelsonik on social media, has neatly remedied that. So, behold the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe with a bunch of different colors – crimson, black, gold, or gray. And if that is not enough, no worries, we also have the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube chipping in on the unofficial color reel matters and adding their visions for blue, green, purple, or maroon options. Cool, right?
