Bourdais Doesn't Rule Out F1 Return

Does anyone remember Sebastien Bourdais? You know, that French driver who came in Formula One as a quadruple champion of the North American Champ Car World Series and left the series out the back door. Apparently, his failure in F1 didn't affect him too much, as the Frenchman seems to still fancy a return to the Great Circle in the future.

Bourdais came to Toro Rosso at the end of 2007 and debuted in the series in 2008, scoring his first F1 points in the very first start. What followed after that was a total disaster, as the 30-year old driver was constantly outpaced by much younger and unexperienced teammate Sebastian Vettel throughout the 2008 season.

The same thing happened all over again a year after, with Sebastien Buemi in Vettel's role. By mid season, the Toro Rosso officials decided to close the Bourdais chapter and showed the Frenchman the door, replacing him with teenager Jaime Alguersuari.

They couldn't help me in the way I wanted,” argued Bourdais his poor couple of seasons in Formula One with Toro Rosso, as reported by British newspaper The Sun. “The F1 story didn't go as planned, but that's life,” added the former Champ Car ace, who failed to secure a place in the North American Indy Car Series after his forced departure from F1.

He instead chose to get back in the game via the Superleague Formula, competing for Spanish side FC Sevilla. In addition, he remained committed to the Le Mans 24 Hour Race programme with Peugeot, where he is likely to stay in 2010 also. As for his chances to return to F1, Le Seb doesn't seem to have let that go either.

When you don't have anything signed, everything is possible. If there is the right opportunity in F1, for sure I'd be interested,” concluded Bourdais, who is currently being championed by the son of FIA president Jean Todt, Nicolas.
