Bourdais Admits F1 Career Over

Sebastien Bourdais will not be racing in Formula 1 anymore. And that's not the verdict of some high-ranked F1 figure or top manager in the series, but his very own opinion on a potential career in F1. Interviewed by sports.fr, the former Scuderia Toro Rosso driver has now officially closed the door on the Great Circus.

For me, F1 is finished, and - anyway - I don't want to run at the back any more,” admitted the 32-year old, who drove for STR in 2008 and half of the 2009 campaign.

Unless someone comes to me with a very interesting offer, which I doubt very much, I turned the page after the Nurburgring in 2009 and I don't miss it (F1) at all.”

Now 32, the Frenchman stepped into the Great Circus as a 4-time winner of North America's F1 correspondent series ChampCar. He even scored points at his very first race with Toro Rosso, ending the 2008 Australian Grand Prix in 7th place (he ran as high as 4th overall but suffered engine problems with 3 laps to go).

However, his later development inside the STR garage did not go as smooth and, halfway through the 2009 season, he was replaced by Red Bull with Jaime Alguersuari. Ever since, the Frenchman has been struggling to find a stable commitment, having tried stints in sports cars and the open wheel series Superleague.

I had some good races, some bad ones and some terrible (ones). I have the experience but I'll be 32 soon so I am aware that the time has passed,” added Bourdais. “I had my chance, it didn't go exactly as I wanted, but it happened. Now, I am looking for other challenges.”
