Bob Lutz Out, But Not Quite: Joins Transonic Board

GM's executive icon, Bob Lutz, has recently taken his leave from the ranks of the American giant, with many speculating he will from now on enjoy a well deserved period of rest and relaxation. On second thought, Lutz must have said, why leave an industry which brought him so many achievements?

Transonic Combustion, a fuel injection systems supplier, announced yesterday it has hit the jackpot and got Lutz's signature for a spot on the board of directors. The new position will come to complete the image of a very active retiree, who also is chairman of The New Common School Foundation, a member of the board of trustees for the US Marine Corps University Foundation and vice chairman of the board of trustees for the Marine Military Academy.

"For the foreseeable future, the internal combustion engine will remain the dominant propulsion system for automobiles and there is still a lot of room to improve its efficiency," Lutz said in a statement.

"Customers and manufacturers want better fuel economy, lower emissions and a great vehicle experience all at an attractive price. Transonic's new supercritical fuel injection technology can greatly improve engine efficiency and potentially become the new industry standard."

As was to be expected, Transonic is delighted to have Lutz onboard. The former GM, Exide, Chrysler, Ford and BMW executive will do nothing but add to the supplier's expertise and weight on the market.

"He joins our board at just the right time, as our technology development and customer traction are progressing rapidly. As our mission is to bring significantly improved efficiency to internal combustion engines, Bob will clearly insist that this is done with the same excellence that has characterized his career," Brian Ahlborn, Transonic Combustion CEO added.
