Hamilton Urged McLaren to Copy Red Bull Designs

Lewis Hamilton has urged his team to copy the complex aerodynamic tweaks implemented by the Red Bull engineers on their RB6 this year. According to the 2008 F1 champion, and probably the entire field we might add, the car developed by the Milton Keynes based team is clearly the one to beat, so copying the efficient solutions found by Red Bull is a must for the races to come.

The RB6 has many good, detailed solutions. I have already told my engineers that we must copy them,” said the British champion in an interview with Germany's Sport Bild.

Additionally, Hamilton warned that the gap between Red Bull and the other front-running teams will further increase once design guru Adrian Newey will find a way to integrate the famous F-duct system into the RB6, something that is likely to happen either in Turkey, or in the next race in Canada.

With this system the best team becomes even stronger,” added the McLaren Mercedes driver for the aforementioned publication.

After 6 non-F-duct races in the championship, Red Bull have finally climbed to the top of the overall classification in both the drivers' and manufacturers' races, having scored 3 wins and two 1-2 finishes so far.

As for the F-duct, the system is likely to appear under several forms on the Ferrari F10s and Mercedes W01s this weekend, during the Turkish Grand Prix. Red Bull are yet to confirm the date for introducing the new device, which is believed to add some 6mph in straight line thanks to a controlled airflow through to the rear of the car.

Ferrari have already tested their design prior to the Monaco Grand Prix and will debut its final version in Turkey.
