Working with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and with BMW’s xDrive system, the unit makes the X5 the second fastest diesel SUV on the marker - the first is its X6 nonidentical twin.
How come? well, it need 5.4 seconds to cover the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint, which is 0.1 faster than what the seriously more powerful Audi Q7 V12 TDI can do. For the sake of comparison, we’ll tell you that the X5M needs 4.7 seconds for the job. We’re so greedy that we really want to know what tuners can do for this new engine!
The M diesels will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but will not be offered on the US market. The X5 M50d can be your for EUR82,300 (German market pricing, with VAT included).
