It's no secret that nobody likes to get a speeding ticket. Fortunately for us, technology evolved a lot in the last few years and we can protect ourselves from police radars.
One of this methods is to use a radar detector. However, most of times, using such a device might pose some problems like inability to use the 12V socket, a lot of wires going around the dash and plugging it on and off all the time.

For those of you that make long trips all the time and use such devices on a daily basis, it might be a good idea to hardwire one of these into your car. In case you also drive a BMW X1, you're in luck.

We found this DIY that shows you how to easily install the radar detector into your car and have it turn on and off automatically along with the engine. All you need for this hardwire is a set of Philips screwdrivers, torx drivers, nylon trim removal tools, wire cutters, strippers, crimpers, a direct-wire power adapter kit, wire ties and, of course, some spare time.
