Most BMW 1 Series owners complain about how bad the chrome kidney grilles look on their cars and not long after purchasing their cars they decide to replace them.
Usually, the replacement kidney grilles come in black, because that's the color that goes with everything. However, in case you want to make your car special, and turn the chrome outlining of the grilles into a completely different color, we can help.

Looking around the forums, we found a quick and complete DIY on how to remove the kidney grilles from your 1er, in a matter of minutes. All you need is a T-30 torx driver, a right angle tool, flashlight and a flat head screwdriver.

Now most of the tools you need are easy to find, however, the right angle tool might pose some trouble as not everyone owns one. You can find a set of tools, including this one at Sears for around 13 bucks.

In case you want to change the color of the chrome trims, you could buy some 3M wrap in the color you prefer and, once the grilles are off, just wrap them in anything you desire, for the car you always wanted.

Once you have everything ready, just follow this DIY and, in a matter of minutes, you should have a completely refreshed car. Have fun!
