BMW’s new line of electric ‘i’ cars is closer than you think. In a statement by BMW Chairman, Dr. Norbert Reithofer, stated that the premium German automaker will concentrate on the start of production for their new EVs, before a possible late 2013 sales debut.
Reithofer also said that with 15-million km of testing with their all-electric MINI E, as well as more than 5-million km of testing with the ActiveE 1-Series-based car, their products are more than ready for the world market, where they will create a “completely new world of individual mobility”.

The launch of their green line of cars will contribute to helping them achieve their goal of halving the CO2 emissions of their entire fleet by 2020, compared to what they used to emit in the mid 1990s. To further aid with this development, the Leipzig factory where these cars will be built is to use only renewable energy.
