It is truly heartening to see that BMW is taking bold steps towards expanding their model range. The newest addition, even though not exactly a new bike, is the R nineT Sport, a beefed-up version of the neo-retro machine.
Unfortunately, the BMW R nineT Sport is an offer which is only available in the UK. All we can do is hope that these bikes will sell so well that BMW will consider adding this version to the line-up that is available in other countries, too.

Even though we're still talking about an R nineT, this accessorized model could be a most welcome extension of the family, alongside the R nineT Scrambler BMW introduced at EICMA 2015.

The Sport version of the R nineT is dedicated to the UK riders only and it misses the pillion seat and the corresponding passenger pegs altogether. Even more, it cannot be converted into a two-up machine, because of the re-routed exhaust.

The repositioned Akrapovic silencer "cleans" up the R nineT looks and adds to the performance figures

BMW ditched the retro, flared two-piece silencer the R nineT is equipped with in its stock trim, and replaced it with a single-can unit supplied with Akrapovic. The rear section of the exhaust pipe assembly was also changed to suit the new position of the Akra can.

Unlike the stock exhaust, which was located low on the left side of the bike, the Akrapovic unit now sits high and is parallel to the tail and the upper part of the rear subframe. The entire rear section now looks cleaner and more aggressive, better suitable for the "Sport" suffix. The Akrapovic exhaust will also enhance the timbre of the R nineT, while also adding to the bike's response and power.

Alongside ABS and heated grips as standard, the BMW R nineT Sport also comes with LED indicators and a fuel tank taken from the accessory catalog. We showed you these custom tanks more than a year ago. They are hand-brushed aluminum pieces and come with a coat of clear varnish. Customers can choose units whose welding lines are in plain sight or sanded down to a smooth finish.

The BMW R nineT Sport will arrive in dealerships across the UK on February 6 with a price of £12,990 on the road, the equivalent of €17,080 or $18,550.
