Sadly, the firm that gave the moto realm this work of art is no longer active, but “Elegant Bastard” will remain a true testament to their superior level of craftmanship.
One thing’s for sure; BMW’s beloved R nineT is among many a workshop’s favorite donors when it comes to creating a ravishing one-off beast with an attitude. That's not surprising as Bavaria’s creature doesn’t just perform like a wonder, it is also an incredibly customizable platform that enables moto masters to let their creativity go absolutely wild.

It is brought to life by an air-cooled boxer-twin powerplant that prides itself with four valves per cylinder and an astronomical displacement of 1,170cc. This untamed monstrosity is fully capable of generating up to 110 ponies at approximately 7,550 rpm. On the other hand, no less than 86 pound-feet (116 Nm) of brutal twisting force will be summoned at 6,000 rpm.

The engine’s relentless oomph is distributed to a shaft final drive via a six-speed transmission to then reach R nineT’s rear 17-inch alloy hoop. Ultimately, this state of affairs blesses BMW Motorrad’s colossus with a generous top speed of 135 mph (217 kph). Now, let’s take a quick look at what Holland’s Smokin’ Motorcycles managed to accomplish on their bespoke R nineT-based build (dubbed “Elegant Bastard”).

Since this project was submitted as an entry to BMW’s Soul Fuel Challenge, it goes without saying this elegant piece of German machinery enjoyed a great deal of attention from gearheads worldwide. For starters, Rotterdam’s specialists went about fabricating an array of custom components to give this entity a personality of its own, such as a CNC-machined subframe module and one sexy aluminum gas tank that's been meticulously shaped by hand.

The new subframe is tasked with supporting a rugged leather saddle as well as an aftermarket LED rear lighting kit. You will also find a pair of carbon fiber side panels hosting the badges you’d normally see on the standard fuel tank. Furthermore, we notice a flawless exhaust system topped with two menacing mufflers that keep things looking seriously rad. Oh, and don’t you even get me started on those golden tips, okay?

Look, we’ve seen plenty of unique R nineTs over the years, but Smokin’ Motorcycles’ Elegant Bastard must be among our favorites! What about you?
