The newest model in the BMW line-up, the 3 Series GT, seems to have a totally different path ahead of itself, compared to its bigger brother, the 5er GT. BMW will even consider launching a full-on M Version of the Tourismo, if the market will demand it.
The most luxurious 3 Series ever made, the GT, has been receiving mostly positive reviews lately and the future of this new Bimmer looks interesting. According to BMW's Product Communication Manager, Bernard Ederer, a high-performance GT is closer than we might think and if the market will demand it, an M3 GT will be developed and released, as it was the case with the M6 Gran Coupe.

However, the 3 Series GT already has a M-Sport package available and a M-Performance model seems more likely at the moment than an full-on M3 GT. After all the GT has been designed and is aimed at people that want comfort and are not keen to driving this car in an ultra-sportive manner.

In case the proper M version is the one to get the green light, the new M3 GT will probably have the same engine as the future F80 M3 which will be based on the N55 6-cylinder turbocharged engine and will, most likely, have around 400 HP.
