Yesterday, BMW USA announced that the West Coast will be getting a brand new Performance Center Driving School in Southern California. Teaming up with The Thermal Club, the new private motorsports club aims at creating a training facility just outside La Quinta, California.
Being similar in philosophy to the center already open in Spartanburg, South Carolina that has been available for enthusiasts since 1999, a BMW M school will be included as well as a BMW Teen Driving School for the younger ones out there.

“We have long believed that the right driver training is every bit as important as technology in helping to keep drivers safe,” noted Peter Miles – Vice President of Sales Channel Development and Customer Relations, BMW of North America.

“The BMW Performance Center West will make it easier for customers in the Western US to benefit from the same professional driving instruction that nearly 130,000 drivers have had at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina over the last 15 years. We are very pleased to partner with The Thermal Club,” he added.

Occupying 32 acres on the grounds of The Thermal Club, the new facility will include a 1.4 mile (2.25 km) road course, 6.2 acres of paddock, a skid pad and a 8,500 sq. ft. Performance Facility. All things included, full driver training courses will be attended here once the center opens in late 2014. The schematics are included in the photos posted below.
