Official figures from BMW Motorrad show another “best month in history”. The Bavarian manufacturer has recorded another month with two-digit growth figures, with the April sales in Europe (not including Germany) surpassing the total sales during the first 4 months of the year.
BMW sold 12% more motorcycles and maxi-scooters worldwide in April 2014 than in the same month of the previous year, making it the newest best-ever month for the brand. In BMW moved 16,344 units compared to 14,587 in April, raising the number of total bikes and maxi scooters sold this year to 45,063, a solid 14.6% increase over the 39,319 units sold to-date in 2013. Even though BMW has not provided figures, a solid growth was also recorded in Asia and the US.

It’s probably no surprise learning that the R1200GS is the bestselling bike. No less than 9,826 new big-bore GS bikes were sold, and the Adventure version quickly climbed to the second position of the sales charts, as it was expected. The R1200GS Adventure started shipping this spring and 5,440 units have already been sold. Third on the sales list is another R1200 bike, but this time is the all-time favored R1200RT tourer, with 3,760 units. The all-new R nineT and S1000R round up the top 5, with 2,024 and 1,679 units sold, respectively.

The latest addition to the BMW line-up is the debut electric maxi scooter, the C evolution, which started shipping on May 2nd, but no sales figures have been provided for it. Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing adds: “After initial test rides, the world's first electrically powered maxi scooter in the premium segment has received excellent reviews from the media, so now we are very much looking forward to the response of our customers in Europe."
