It looks like BMW’s motorcycle sales are slowly back to their upward trend, after the problems caused by the recall of the 2014 R1200RT machines. The Bavarian manufacturer has posted the sales figures for July 2014, even though no in-depth analysis on different markets has been offered. In a rather too reserved manner, BMW Motorrad conveyed that the month of July brought another all-time high in sales.
The sales of motorcycles and maxi scooters in July went slightly up compared to the same month of 2013. 11,661 units were sold, compared to 11,241 pushed in July 2013, representing a 3.7% increase over the previous year data. However, the worldwide supply of motorcycles in the first 7 months of the year was significantly bigger than in 2013. The number of motorbikes and maxi scooters BMW sold worldwide through the end of July was 82,639, an 8.5% increase over the 76,128 sold as of the same date last year.

BMW Motorrad officials admitted that the results so far predict another record year in sales, and mentioned that Germany remains the biggest single market for the company, accounting for 17% of the total sales. The US is the second-strongest market for BMW, with 12.3 percent of the total sales, followed by Italy and France.
The leading bike is still the new R1200GS, even though no model-specific figures have been provided.

Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing also mentioned that the Adventure version of the R1200GS is also a strong seller, with the other enduro models and boxer engine-powered bikes also being popular choices among customers.

BMW also announced earlier that the new rear shocks for the recalled 2014 R1200RT equipped with Dynamic ESA suspensions are expected to reach the dealerships soon and customers will be able to start scheduling repairs. Read more on the resolve of the R1200RT recall here.
