Things are on the move with the 2016 BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy, as the Bavarian manufacturer announces having shipped no less than 114 motorcycles to Thailand. The 2016 BMW GS Trophy will take place in Thailand from February 28 to March 5, and will line up no less than 19 teams at the start.
Out of the 114 bikes BMW shipped to Thailand, 14 are R1200GS Adventure and will be used by the GS Trophy marshals. For the first time, a team made up solely of women will be part of the GS Trophy, and this says quite a lot about BMW's implication in smoothing out the gender-based differentiations in the adventure riding world.

We can hope that this is only the beginning and that more ladies will become interested in taking part in the GS Trophy in the future. We know that BMW is supporting the ladies who want to become better adventure riding, and we have recently reported on two BMW Riding Academies ran by RawHyde that offer women-only training courses. Can you picture the GS Trophy with a strong ladies-only section?

Accessorized bikes will tackle the Thai off-road hardships

The BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy will put both riders and machines to the test, so the R1200GS bikes have been equipped with some extras. Even though they are engineered for adventure riding, BMW thought that throwing in some original add-ons couldn't hurt.

All the machines received aluminum enduro engine guards and steel crash bars, safety screws for the oil filler neck and headlight guards, complemented by adjustable footbrake levers and wider enduro footrests for more comfort and support when standing up. Metzeler Karoo 2 off-road tires are also part of the GS Trophy game.

Stay tuned as we will bring you more from Thailand as the 2016 BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy gets underway.
