By now you probably read a lot of reviews about the new BMW M6 Gran Coupe and how it’s an amazing machine but also about its flaws and defects. The guys from Auto Motor und Sport are known for criticizing BMWs when such criticism is needed and telling it like it is. The problem is that they say it in German.
Lucky for you, I speak the language of the engineers that developed this car and can shine some light into what the guys from Auto Motor und Sport thought about it in their test drive.

Basically, as everyone else out there, there was little they could criticize about the new car. It has everything you could possibly wish for and more. The interior is luxurious and a step ahead of the M5 even though rear headroom might be less than you’d expect.

On the 2 front seats you’ll be sitting more comfortably than in your own armchair back at home but going at a mind-boggling speed without even noticing because in the M6 GC the speed simply creeps up on you.

The 4.4-liter V8 that makes 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque is simply brilliant and will tear down the road reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.1 seconds and 200 km/h (124 mph) in 12.4 seconds thanks to its high-revving curve that reaches the redline at 7,200 RPM.

If you decide to use the DCT’s Launch Control feature and go all SPORT inside the M6 you should be prepared for a brutal experience as all 8 cylinders of the engine will be doing their best to make you feel like there’s no drop of oxygen left in this world.

The best thing about this 4-door coupe though is that it allows you to use it on a daily basis without too much headache. Get it in comfort mode and you’ll be driving around in a 6 Series Gran Coupe that looks a bit more angry.

Bottom line, the M6 Gran Coupe might very well be the best offering from the M Division until the new M3 and M4 show up on the street to take back the crown.
