It’s a sort of unspoken consensus that BMW got the previous generation of cars a bit wrong. The M5 was a bit ugly in places, fans didn’t like the idea of a V8 (though it got them new customers in the US) and somehow straight-six engines were put on the back burner.
Everything will be different with the new M3 coupe, which will not actually be called an M3. That’s right, the coupe, cabrio and a new Gran Coupe model will be named 4-Series and will have slightly different styling to the F30 3-Series sedan. The kidney grille and headlights will be sportier for example.
There’s no denying this machine rendered by Wild Speed for F30 Post is amazingly good looking, but it’s the mechanical bits that are the most impressive.
The M4 will be much lighter, targeting the weight of the E46 M3. The engine used will me some sort of new inline-six multi-turbo setup. The HP output will be about the same as the current V8, but the torque will be much better.
