This is turning out to be the autumn of disappointments for us. We’ve learned that the new Clio RS will have only 200 PS, will have slightly thinner tires and no Brembo brakes. Now it’s time to share the bad news about the upcoming F80 M3 sedan and F82 M4 coupe.
Bimmerpost hat talked to an insider familiar with the project who told them the straight-six engine used by this car will not have 450 hp. Instead, it will have about the same output as the old V8 (420 PS).

But the turbocharged setup will result in more torque, 100 lb-ft (135 Nm) more of it. That means the new M3 will develop approximately 395 lb-ft (535 Nm), which will give it a very meaty feel.

If power is not what they are going for than what is the focus of the car? Weight! The F80 M3 will reportedly tip the scales at about 3,415 lbs (1549 kg), which makes it 300 lbs (136 kg) lighter than its predecessor. The aim is to get it closer to the E46, which sounds really good on paper.

Expect the new M3 to be shown as a concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, after which it will go on sale later in the year.
