One of the two world premieres set by BMW to take place at the New York Auto Show 2014 is the new M4 Convertible, the car that aims to bring open top driving pleasure to a dealership near you.
Featuring the same folding roof mechanism as the 4 Series Convertible, the car was presented to the audience with the hard top already hidden under the boot lid inside the BMW stand in NY. Furthermore, the Germans decided to keep the same color scheme as on the car showed in the official press photos they released a couple of days ago.

On the outside, the M4 wore the same Mineral Grey Metallic paint while inside you could spot the Coral Red leather going all around, giving it a special feel.

Under the bonnet, you guessed it, the same S55 3-liter twin-turbocharged inline 6-cylinder engine rests, capable of 431 HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque when pushed hard, somewhere around 5,500 RPM.

However, compared to its Coupe brother, this version is a bit heavier, therefore affecting performance. Even so, the M4 Convertible tramples over its competition, especially if your name is Porsche and you have Porsche prices.

The 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint is done in either 4.4 seconds or 4.6 seconds, depending on your transmission, the 7-speed DCT unit being faster. Furthermore, the top speed is limited at 250 km/h (155 mph) but that limit can be taken up to 280 km/h (174 mph) if you go for the MDM package but those are details that will be discussed when we actually get to drive the car.

Prices for the drop top version of the first ever M4 will start at $73,425 in the US, including the $925 destination and handling fee.
