BMW M4 Convertible Prototypes Are Funny Hiding ‘Essential’ Features

Normally, when a manufacturer tests a new prototype, it hides either its entire body or its most important and innovative features that shouldn’t make it on the internet before the car is completely ready to be launched.

BMW is no exception and we’ve seen plenty of photos of various Bimmers being tested in extreme conditions, wearing all sorts of camouflage in all sorts of places. With the M4 Convertible already revealed seeing a prototype of the car still wearing such eye-confusing patches simply made us burst into laughter.

Apart from the fact that we now know how the new M4 Cabrio looks like, we already had a pretty good idea how it would turn out long before the first spy photo of the car was even shot. That’s because we knew it was going to be identical to the Coupe excepting the roof, of course.

Therefore, BMW’s attempts to cover the hood bulge, the front air intakes, the front fender air gills, the side skirts and the rear bumper were rather funny to witness.

Now that the sun is up, the test drivers are driving the drop tops with the roofs folded and, in order to keep the neck warmers away from prying eyes they covered them and ended up looking hilarious driving down the road (as if we didn’t already know how they’d look like after seeing the exact same things on the new 4 Series Convertible). Check them out in the gallery below.
