We're not talking about the new high-performance 2 Series model here as BMW didn't reveal any new info about it yet. No, we're talking about something special, a one of a kind car that was built with a lot of passion, time and dedication.
The guys from Bavarian Workshop were intrigued one day, when a customer came inside their shop and wanted to restore his dad's old 2002 BMW. While looking around the shop, he noticed a turbocharged 2002 and that was all it took for a new project to be born.

For the next months, the crew from BWS worked day and night to create a hybrid that was ultimately called M2. Why? Because it manages to engulf the feel of a classic E30 M3 with the looks of the iconic 2002.

They went with a complete stock drivetrain and engine from the first M3. The S14 unit needed a bit more room to fit inside the engine bay but after a couple of alterations, everything was installed on the 1976 2002 body.

Other changes include a new set of coilovers, Wilwood brakes and the instant classic Alpina wheels. The interior was kept intact as much as possible. Of course, Alcantara leather and a set of Sport Recaro Seats had to be fitted as the old ones were pretty worn out. However, the front seats came from an early 1978 3 Series so they are also an original BMW part.

Not only did this project take a lot of time and dedication but is was also expensive. All the parts had to be custom fitted and most of them had to be imported from Europe, and that costs a lot of money. The overall bill could get you a modern-day F10 M5 and a Kia but you'll be just another random driver with a random car driving down the street instead of owning a truly unique piece of engineering.
