Yesterday, we reported that BMW introduced a new Efficient Dynamics version for the 320d Touring model. Now, the Bavarians are back with a virtual Efficient Dynamics development, releasing a related pinball application for the iPad and iPhone.
The app was developed as part of a company’s sustainability exhibition and is part of BMW’s “What’s next?” corporate campaign, which is aimed at showing the carmaker’s commitment to sustainability.
The application comes with an interactive approach to help users understand BMW Group’s pathways for cutting CO2 emissions. Players have to collect CO2-reduction points by activating Efficient Dynamics technologies.
The elements of the game represent individual technologies that are activated through the contact with the ball, cutting CO2 emissions. Different levels bring additional Efficient Dynamics measures, with a multi-ball function, that arrives in level 3, symbolizing the incorporation of all measures into the vehicle fleet, taking full advantage of the emission-reducing effect. The app also offers direct access to information on the technologies.
You can download the app free of charge from the App Store, with an online version of the game available at www.bmwgroup.com/whatsnext.
The BMW Group sustainability exhibit includes the Efficient Dynamics pinball machine, a virtual water cycle, a driving simulator and an application for optimizing traffic flow and is currently on display in the Munich Airport’s Terminal 2 departure lounge.
“Sustainability is an integral part of the BMW Group’s corporate strategy. The BMW Group’s Board of Management defined sustainability as one of the company’s core strategic principles back in 2000. Sustainability is firmly entrenched throughout the BMW Group’s entire value chain: from the development of fuel-saving and alternative vehicle concepts through clean production processes to environmentally-friendly recycling practices,” stated the press release.
