With the record-breaking level of sales reached in June, BMW managed to further increase its lead over its Inglostadt-based competitor, Audi.
If in the first 5 months of the year, BMW managed to overpass Audi by 11,000 units, due to the amazing numbers posted in June, the difference now reached 24,000 units, as BMW sales grew by 9.4% in June, whilst Audi grew by just 5.5 percent.

Year-to-date, BMW sales increased by 7.7% whilst Audi's grew only 6.4% to 780,500 units.

“BMW has stronger momentum than Audi and Mercedes, that won’t change in the second half. Design of their cars has improved and they’re ahead on fuel-saving technologies,” said Hanover-based NordLB analyst Frank Schwope.

Whilst Audi relies on the sedan version of the A3 to pick up the pace, BMW is already outpacing it, launching a variety of models in the months to come (like the new 5 Series GT, 4 Series and so on).
